Aims

The aims of The Orford and District Inshore Fishermen’s Association are:

The Association is administered by an Executive of three Members, The Chairperson, The Treasurer and The Secretary, elected at the Association’s Annual General Meeting. Executive members must be at least 18 years old.

Membership of the Association is open to anyone whose livelihood is dependent, either directly or indirectly, on the use of Orford Quay or the Rivers Alde and Ore for the purposes of fishing and others who support the aim of the Association.

The Association has two membership categories, Full Membership and Associate Membership. Full members are entitled to one vote at general meetings and have access to the facilities leased from the Orford Town Trust at Orford Quay. Associate Membership is available for anyone who wishes to show their support for the association, it offers no voting rights, nor the use of the quay facilities but Associate Members may attend any annual general meetings.

The Executive has the power to refuse membership to any applicant, where it is considered such membership would be detrimental to the aims of the Association.

The members of the Orford and District Inshore Fishermen’s Association agree:

a) to comply with all statutes, bylaws, regulations and requirements of any government or competent authority relating to the group and the conduct of its activities with the New Orford Town Trust.

b) to conduct all activities connected with Orford Quay and involving the public and particularly children in accordance with safe working practices.

Members of the Association have priority over the use of the west side of the quay at all times.
